The program was organised for all the students of ITIs pursuing skill training courses in different trades. The aim of this program was to inform the trainees about the NCS initiative, India’s largest employment program and to show them the process of jobseeker registration at NCS web portal www.ncs.gov.in and the functionalities and services available to them under NCS.

ITI students were delighted to know that NCS offers them work opportunities in three different ways. On one hand, NCS connects them with job opportunities in private and government sector whereas on the other, NCS offers them to work as self-employed as they can register themselves as local service providers like drivers, electricians, plumbers etc. Any household desiring to avail their services can directly contact them through NCS Portal, and pay them according to their work rate mentioned at the portal.

Manu Sakunia, Young Professional working with Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India informed that  the ITI trainees can ind information on self-employment schemes like MUDRA, Startup India and others at NCS Portal. Rajat Harvalkar showed ITI trainees the step-by-step process of jobseeker registration at the portal and how they can avail different features like search for jobs, use career assessment tools and download their NCS ID Card through their account at NCS Portal. Vivek Rane from SDCT said that NCS came as a boon for skill training students of Goa as it helps in connecting them with all possible job opportunities at the regional and the national level.

ITI trainees were optimistic about the NCS initiative. They can now access all the employment-related services and career-related information anytime from anywhere through any computer or mobile device. NCS initiative also has a national toll-free helpline number – 1800-425-1514 to assist those who are not IT literate and do not have internet connection in their mobile phones/computers. A Model Career Centre under NCS has also been established at Regional Employment Exchange, Panaji to assist jobseekers in accessing NCS services.
