Son booked for abandoning parents by Calangute police.

Calangute police have registered an offence under section 504 IPC and Sections 24 and 25 of Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007.

As per PI Dalvi a complaint was received from a lady Mrs. Mario Periera, aged – 75 yrs residing at Siquerim, Candolim- Goa who complained that she has been staying with her husband aged 84 yrs at their residence. As she and her husband are old aged they are dependent on their son who also resides with them. However her son who is also staying in the house has not been helping her financially and intentionally ignores them and abandons them. She also complained that her son uses abusive languages against them on many occasions. Further upon receiving complaint police immediately booked the son of the lady and have issued him notice to remain present for investigation. 

PI Dalvi added that this is the first such case in his jurisdiction since he took charge and any more of such instances will be dealt as per law. Further investigation is in progress.
