A public meeting of members of the Bahujan community was held in Canacona to discuss the proposed reservation of the Canacona Assembly constituency for the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category.Participants expressed opposition to the proposal, arguing that any decision on constituency reservation should be based on a fair and transparent process. Speakers at the meeting contended that reserving the constituency would adversely affect a large section of voters and called for a review of the proposal.The gathering resolved that if their concerns are not addressed, they would launch a democratic agitation to press for their demands.
