Calangute BJP MLA Michael Lobo “pleaded” on Wednesday. In a letter to chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar, Lobo said it was “very sad to see that drugs are openly available in the coastal area of Goa, which is badly affecting the youth of Goa and the domestic and international tourists”.
Lobo said “drug trafficking is carried out by organized gang of Nigerians, other foreign national gangs, Indians and also our very own Goan people”. He appealed to start a war to stop this drug trafficking “before things go out of our hands”. Lobo said that Goa police should appoint a police officer of the rank of SP to head a “special squad” to launch the war on drugs. This team should be in addition to the anti-narcotics cell (ANC).
