In Goa Academy’s Women-Only Filmmaking Workshop Concludes With Star-Studded Certificate Ceremony

Siolim MLA Delialah Lobo and Bollywood Actor Harmit Singh Mamik Felicitate Aspiring Female Filmmakers in Porvorim

 In a significant boost for women in the creative arts, In Goa Academy, located in Porvorim, successfully concluded its exclusive three-day filmmaking workshop for women. The intensive program culminated in a prestigious certificate distribution ceremony graced by Siolim MLA, Smt. Delialah Lobo, as the Chief Guest, and noted Bollywood actor Harmit Singh Mamik as the Guest of Honour.

The workshop, designed to empower and equip women with the essential skills of cinematic storytelling, saw enthusiastic participation from aspiring filmmakers across the region. Over the three days, attendees were immersed in the fundamentals of scriptwriting, direction, cinematography, and editing, gaining hands-on experience and valuable industry insights.

The final day’s ceremony was a celebration of the participants’ hard work and newfound skills. Smt. Delialah Lobo, a strong advocate for women’s empowerment, personally handed over the certificates. In her address to the graduates, she lauded the initiative by In Goa Academy.

“Cinema is a powerful medium to voice stories that need to be heard, and it is incredibly inspiring to see a platform dedicated exclusively to women,” said Smt. Lobo. “When women are behind the camera, they bring unique perspectives that enrich our culture and society. I congratulate every participant for taking this step, and I am confident that we will see great storytellers emerge from this group.”

Adding a touch of industry glamour and experience, veteran actor Harmit Singh Mamik, known for his roles in films like Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar and various television shows, interacted with the participants. He shared anecdotes from his long career and offered words of encouragement.

“The passion and creativity I see here today are truly commendable,” stated Mamik. “The technical knowledge you have gained is your tool, but your unique vision is your power. Never stop learning, never stop creating, and don’t be afraid to tell your story your way.”

The management of In Goa Academy expressed their gratitude to the distinguished guests and reiterated their commitment to fostering talent in Goa. “Our aim was to create a safe, supportive, and professional environment for women to learn the craft of filmmaking. The success of this workshop has reinforced our mission, and we plan to organize more such specialized courses in the future,” said a spokesperson for the academy.
