Rehabilitation of 31 families required before environmental clearance for proposed upgrade Fishermen have raised concerns over the deteriorating condition of the Kharewado jetty, with Goa Fishing Boat Owners Association President Roquezinho D’Souza alleging neglect and “step-motherly treatment” of the facility by authorities. Responding to the issue, Mormugao Port Authority Chairman Dr. N. Vinod Kumar said discussions are ongoing with the government on a proposed state-of-the-art finger jetty at Kharewado. He added that 31 families must be rehabilitated before the project can proceed to the stage of seeking environmental clearance and further development.
