Special Schools Seek Year-Round Sports Programme for Differently-Abled Students

Schools call for dedicated Sports Department wing and regular training for physical education teachers Special schools in Goa have urged the government to introduce a year-round sports programme for differently-abled students to strengthen inclusive sports development. Highlighting that nearly 1,000 athletes participate annually across 14 sporting disciplines, the schools have also sought regular in-service training for physical education teachers and the creation of a dedicated section within the Sports Department to oversee and promote sports for differently-abled athletes. The proposals aim to provide sustained opportunities and better support for young sportspersons.
