Experts Propose Tiger Reserves in Goa to Protect Tigers and Mhadai River

Environmentalist urges CEC to declare Mhadei, Khotigao, Mollem National Park, and Mollem Sanctuary as tiger reserves Environmentalist Rajendra Kerkar highlighted the declining tiger population in Goa before the Central Empowered Committee during their visit to the state. Noting that five tigers have been killed in the past 10 years, he suggested declaring Mhadei, Khotigao, Mollem National Park, and Mollem Sanctuary as tiger reserves. Kerkar emphasized that such a move would not only safeguard tigers but also help protect the Mhadai River. The CEC held discussions with government officials and stakeholders at the State Secretariat in Porvorim to assess the proposal for establishing a Tiger Reserve in Goa.
