Goa Foundation Highlights Misleading Claims on Tiger Reserve Relocation

Only 150 residents in core zone; tiger reserve benefits entire state, says Claud Alveris Goa Foundation representative Claud Alveris criticized misleading statements by the state government regarding the proposed tiger reserve. While the government claimed that 1 lakh locals would need relocation from wildlife areas, its own affidavit submitted to the Central Empowered Committee states there are only 1,264 houses in all protected areas,Alveris emphasized that notifying a tiger reserve would affect no more than 6,000 people and highlighted that establishing the reserve would benefit the entire state, including strengthening Goa’s stance in the Mhadei river water diversion dispute.
