Overwhelming Response from Women Across Goa
Short Film ‘Silent Cries’ on Postpartum Depression Receives Applause
In a pioneering initiative aimed at empowering women through the art of storytelling and cinema, In Goa Academy successfully conducted a filmmaking workshop exclusively for women, receiving an overwhelming response from participants across Goa.
The workshop was designed to offer in-depth knowledge of the complete filmmaking process, including scriptwriting, acting, cinematography, editing, and the three critical stages of production — pre-production, production, and post-production.
What made this workshop truly special was the collaborative creation of a short film titled “Silent Cries”, which poignantly portrays the sensitive issue of postpartum depression — a topic often left unspoken in society. The film was planned and produced entirely by the participants and was successfully screened before a distinguished audience.
Sessions were led by the Principal of In Goa Academy, Mr. Anil Lad, along with Mr. Viraj and Ms. Yati Lad, who guided the women through every step of the creative journey.
The closing ceremony was graced by Mrs. Delilah Lobo, MLA from Siolim and Vice Chairperson of the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG), along with renowned actor Mr. Vikramsingh Tanwar and Academy Manager Mr. Suraj Naik.
Mrs. Lobo praised the initiative, calling it the first-of-its-kind workshop in Goa, and pledged full support from ESG for future women-centric film programs.
Mr. Vikramsingh Tanwar congratulated the participants and appreciated their commitment to creative expression, especially amidst their responsibilities as homemakers. He encouraged them to continue making short films and share women’s perspectives with the world.
Certificates were distributed to all the participants, marking the successful completion of a truly inspiring and groundbreaking workshop.
