New Delhi, September 06, 2021: GMR led Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) has won the prestigious awards of CII ‘National Energy Leader’ and ‘Excellent Energy Efficient Unit’ at the 22nd National Award ceremony for ‘Excellence in Energy Management’ organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) – Green Business Centre (GBC) during the 22nd edition of ‘Energy Efficiency Summit’, Virtual Conference & Exposition on Energy Efficiency held from 24 – 27 August 2021. DIAL has been recognized with ‘National Energy Leader’ and ‘Excellent Energy Efficient Unit’ accolades for the 2nd and 4th years in a row, respectively.
The virtual event was graced by Mr Ravichandran Purushothaman, Chairman, Energy Efficiency Council & President, Danfoss Industries Pvt. Ltd., Mr S K Khandare, Director, Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Ministry of Power, GoI, Mr P V Kiran Ananth, Principal Counsellor, CII-Godrej GBC and Mr K S Venkatagiri, Executive Director, CII-Godrej GBC.
The objective of these awards is to recognize the companies engaged in energy-efficiency initiatives that adopt best practices and technological advancement in their daily operations. The jury evaluated the participants on several parameters of energy efficiency and innovative thought process adopted.
Commenting on being honoured with such prestigious award, Mr Videh Kumar Jaipuriar, CEO-DIAL, said: “This award is a testimony of our focus and dedication towards improving energy efficiency and promote sustainable development at Delhi Airport. We have been consciously working towards energy efficiency and adoption of new innovative technologies and implemented several COVID measures to ensure passenger safety as per new norms.”
DIAL presented the key energy-saving and emission reduction initiatives, innovative projects, and other environmental aspects such as waste and water management, climate change adaptation strategies, etc. These initiatives implemented by DIAL were highly appreciated by all the jury members. It is worth noting that DIAL is Asia Pacific’s first Level 4+ (transition) accredited airport under Airport Council International’s Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) programme.
The ‘National Awards for Excellence in Energy Management’ is instituted by CII to catalyze significant and innovative practices for the energy efficiency sector, thereby facilitating energy- efficient and sustainable growth for the Indian industry.
