MLA Proposes Monitoring Committee, Warns Against Mixed Waste Disposal Amid mounting complaints over foul smell and improper waste handling, Calangute MLA Michael Lobo visited the Saligao garbage treatment plant and called for stricter monitoring of its operations. Stressing the need for accountability, Lobo said a dedicated monitoring committee should be formed and announced that he would personally inspect the facility up to three times a week. He also directed authorities to take firm action against panchayats sending mixed or unclean waste, warning that continued negligence could affect the plant’s functioning and worsen problems for nearby residents.
