Panchayats, Municipalities Can Stop TCP Permissions: Elvis Gomes

Congress leader cites minister’s statement in Assembly on powers of local bodies Congress leader Elvis Gomes said that Panchayats and Municipalities have full powers to stop development permissions. Referring to a discussion in the Goa Legislative Assembly, he stated that TCP Minister Vishwajit Rane clarified this while responding to Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao, stressing that the Town and Country Planning Department is not supreme and local bodies can intervene if needed.
