करमळीत वनरक्षकाच्या तत्परतेने वाचले पक्षीजीव

बेकायदेशीर वृक्षतोडीमुळे धोक्यात आलेली घरटी; वन खात्याच्या अधिकाऱ्याच्या वेगवान कारवाईने टळली पर्यावरणीय हानी करमळीत पाणथळ जमीन असलेल्या आणि पर्यावरणदृष्ट्या संवेदनशील जलभूमीत संभाव्य पर्यावरणीय संकट टळले असून, वन खात्यातील कर्मचाऱ्याच्या तत्परतेमुळे अनेक पक्ष्यांचे जीव वाचले. नियमित गस्तीदरम्यान वन विभागाचे केअरटेकर सुरेश यांनी एका खासगी व्यक्तीकडून करण्यात आलेली बेकायदेशीर वृक्षतोड उघडकीस आणली.या वृक्षतोडीमुळे अनेक पक्ष्यांची घरटी उद्ध्वस्त झाली होती. काही पिल्ले घरट्यांपासून वंचित झाली, तर काही प्रौढ पक्षी जखमी अवस्थेत आढळले. मात्र, करमळीत येथे पंधरा वर्षांचा अनुभव असलेल्या सुरेश यांनी तातडीने परिस्थिती हाताळत जखमी व अनाथ पक्ष्यांना सुरक्षित स्थळी हलवले.२०० हून अधिक पक्षीप्रजाती अचूक ओळखण्याची क्षमता असलेल्या सुरेश यांच्या ज्ञान आणि अनुभवामुळे ही मोठी हानी टळली. अधिकृत कर्तव्याच्या पलीकडे जाऊन, एक उत्कट पक्षीप्रेमी आणि ट्रेकर म्हणून ते नियमितपणे जखमी व अनाथ पक्ष्यांचे पुनर्वसन करून त्यांना नैसर्गिक अधिवासात सोडतात.कारंबोळी जलभूमी ही अनेक स्थलांतरित आणि स्थानिक पक्ष्यांसाठी महत्त्वाची अधिवासभूमी असून, अशा संवेदनशील क्षेत्राच्या संरक्षणासाठी सातत्याने दक्षता आवश्यक आहे.
