3 children in Mumbai lost their eye to Mucormycosis!

A very disturbing incident has come to light In Mumbai, Eyes of three children who were infected with Mucormycosis have been removed. All three children reportedly recovered from the corona but later contracted mucormycosis. As a result, all the three children have lost their eyes.

According to the information received, all the three children are undergoing treatment at private hospitals in Mumbai. Two of the three children are very young. One child is 4 years old and the other is 6 years old. The third child is 14 years old.

According to doctors, both 4 and 6 year old had no symptoms of diabetes. But the 14-year-old had symptoms of diabetes. There is also a 16-year-old girl who recovered from corona and later developed symptoms of diabetes. This time black fungus has been found in the girl’s stomach.

According to Doctor of a private hospital in Mumbai Jaisal Seth, he had received 2 cases of Mucormycosis this year. Both children were minors. A 14-year-old girl with diabetes was not feeling well. Within 48 hours of being admitted to the hospital, the girl developed symptoms of black fungus.

According to the doctor, ‘They had to remove the girl’s eye, after which she was in observation for about 6 weeks. Fortunately, the infection did not reach her brain. But she had to lose her eye. ‘

If the eye had not been removed, a life would have been lost!

According to doctors, the 16-year-old girl had no symptoms of diabetes, but after recovering from corona, she began to feel uneasy. The black fungus had reached her stomach, but after proper treatment, she recovered.

At the same time, children aged 4 and 6 were treated at another private hospital. According to the hospital, if the children’s eyes had not been removed, it would have been very difficult to save their lives.

During the corona crisis, thousands of patients with Mucormycosis have been found so far in different parts of the country. There are many cases in which patients had their eyes or noses removed

Govt to conduct Breast Cancer screening camps: Vishwajit Rane

Panaji: Health Minister Vishwajit Rane has said that the state government will conduct awareness camps for Breast Cancer screening in Goa. Rane said that the camps will help early detection of the Breast cancer.

He said that empowering women through our wellness and health scheme is another aspect of empowering women in the state.

Goa reports 201 COVID-19 positive cases on Wednesday, no deaths

Panaji: Goa on Wednesday reported 201 fresh cases taking the total number of COVID-19 infections in the state to 2,48,540. As per the State Health Department’s bulletin, 201 new infections were reported on Wednesday taking the toll to 2,48,540.

As many as 151 patients were discharged from hospitals during the day on Wednesday, taking the count of recoveries to 2,43,720, while the death toll remained at 3,838 with no new deaths reported. The state now has 982 active cases, he said.

At least 1361 swab samples were tested on Wednesday, taking the total number of tests carried out in the state to 19,79,873.

10,000 breast cancer screenings successfully completed under the ‘Swasth Mahila, Swasth Goa’ initiative

Panaji: Breast cancer screening of 10,000 women across Goa has been successfully completed under the ‘Swasth Mahila, Swasth Goa’ initiative of cricketer Yuvraj Singh’s YouWeCan Foundation, the SBI Foundation and the Government of Goa., a senior funtionary said.

The initiative which was launched in October 2021, aims to screen 1 lakh women in Goa for breast cancer, thereby ensuring that 50% of the age eligible female population in the State is screened.

In a press statement issued here, the YouWeCan Foundation has said that free of cost breast cancer screening is being conducted at 35 Health Centres across Goa along with multiple outreach camps.

“Till date, 142 outreach camps have been held in various parts of Goa. Of the 10,000 women who have been screened so far, 7 women have been diagnosed positive for breast cancer and their treatment has already commenced,” the press statement adds.

All the suspected cases have been referred to the Goa Medical College & Hospital and district hospitals for further investigations and complete treatment.

Goa’s Director of Health Services Geeta Kakodkar has congratulated the initiative and said that early detection is the key and screening eligible women is a big step forward towards this. “I am sure our sustained efforts will reach all eligible women and benefit them,”she added.

Cricketer Yuvraj Singh is quoted in the press statement as saying “ Breast Cancer is the most common form of cancer in India but around 70 per cent of the breast cancer patients in our country get diagnosed in advanced stages due to lack of screening.”

“ Our endeavour through the ‘Swasth Mahila, Swasth Goa’ initiative is to provide a screening platform to the entire female population of Goa for early detection and timely treatment,” he added.

Singh said that now that the project has picked up momentum in Goa, we aim to achieve our target of screening 1 lakh women across the State in the next 18 months.

“In the near future, we plan to scale up our breast cancer screening initiative by taking it to other states. Our ultimate goal is to make it a pan-India initiative and help women across India have access to early detection mechanism for breast cancer,” he added.
