Labourers and masons say fixed rates make daily survival difficult A public notice issued by the Old Goa Panchayat fixing labour and mason charges has triggered concern among local workers. As per the order, daily wages for labourers have been set at ₹545, with mason charges also standardised and strict action warned against overcharging. However, workers say the fixed rates are making survival difficult, claiming that most of their earnings are spent on basic needs such as food, rent, and bills, leaving little scope for savings. They have urged authorities to reconsider the structure, stating it could further strain their livelihood.
