Goa Chemists Join Nationwide Protest Against Online Medicine Sales

Medical stores observe shutdown; major pharmacy chains continue operations in parts of Panaji Medical stores across several areas in Goa observed a shutdown on Friday in support of a nationwide strike called by chemists protesting against e-pharmacies and the online sale of medicines. The protest led to the closure of several standalone medical shops in multiple locations across the state.However, the response was mixed in Panaji, where outlets of major pharmacy chains such as Apollo Pharmacy and Wellness Forever continued to operate. Some homeopathic pharmacies were also seen functioning during the day.
