Bride-to-be crowns Our Lady of Fatima statue at Mae de Deus Chapel A unique 80-year-old Marian tradition was observed in Siolim on May 1, where a bride-to-be ceremonially crowned the statue of Our Lady of Fatima at Mae de Deus Chapel.Chosen maiden Franza Fernandes placed a crown of white roses on the statue, continuing a custom initiated in 1943 by Fr. Lazarus Andrade. The ceremony was followed by prayers, the Rosary, Mass, and a Novena, with large participation from local residents.
