War of Words Erupts in Pernem Ahead of 2027 Polls

Arolkar calls out “rejected leaders”; Ajgaonkar hits back, says voters insulted Political heat is rising in North Goa ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections, with a sharp exchange between Mandrem MLA Jit Arolkar and former Pernem MLA Babu Ajgaonkar. Arolkar had earlier targeted “retired and rejected leaders” attempting a comeback, asserting that Pravin Arlekar enjoys strong public support in Pernem and remarking that those opening offices should “lock them and go home.” Hitting back, Ajgaonkar said Arolkar himself became MLA due to the blessings of the people, including senior citizens (“Jantele”), and accused him of insulting Pernem’s voters. The former four-time MLA also suggested Arolkar direct his remarks at senior leaders like Sudin Dhavalikar and Digambar Kamat, while questioning the actual numbers of Jantele within both BJP and MGP.
